Making doujinshi for COMITIA, on 24 November 2019. 

(The detail of TICF had not yet been announced, so I'm not sure at the moment)

Why don't you join this project and show your work on Coffee-Party book "In Search of Lost Coffee" vol.8, it's sold at the venue(Comitia/komike), and conventions outside Japan I (Nao Yazawa) am invited. This project is open for everyone. 

At a convention in USA

Coffee Party is a group I organized for Tokyo International Comic Festival and has been releasing Doujin book series In Search of Lost Coffee(1-7 right now)

It's a group opens for everyone, you can join and show your work on the book

Because Tokyo International Comic Festival  has been closed, the book will be released at COMITIA on 24 Nov. 2019.

In Search of Lost Coffee 8.  

The idea is basically the same with last time, these are the condition; 

1) Black and white drawing for the body, and 2) a note for a comment space.
3) A small color image for the back cover.

The subject  can be anything about Coffee Party characters. Croissant, Eclair, Dango, and Brioche.

You should take Croissant or Eclair at least. You can add your original character if you like - he or she should be named by a sweet, typical one in your country (Something nice with coffee). 

Anything is OK, illustration, a drawing with some words/dialogue, 4koma/8koma, or short manga/comic.  The language should be in English or Japanese, then I'll add Japanese(or English) subtitle, for Japanese audience.  

Manga/Comic both styles are acceptable. (left to right / right to left) 

On the first page, your name and title(if you have) are required. (see below images)

COST:  600 yen/page +200 yen for your comment/note space. 

if you want to draw 4 pages, means 2400 yen. I'll send you Paypal money request.

You'll get 5-10 copies. Under 5 pages :5 copies more than that, 10 copies.
 (Shipping cost is not included. It depends on the pages of the book, but would be about 700 -1500 yen) If you want more, you can tell me.

What you need to draw?
1) Drawing (for Body)  Black and white (monochrome image)  If you use Grayscale/RGB/CMYK scale, please note it will be changed without adjustment. The image might become different from what you intended.
No page limit. 

Manga Studio file or ClipScudio file  (A4/1200 dpi, default). If you don't have these app, Tif file(154x216mm) is also acceptable. (black and white, not grayscale)

Templates is available via dropbox.
Once your application accepted, the link will be send by email.

2) Comment (Black and White) Comic Studio template or TIF
Size will be decided later. 

3) Illustration for back cover.  (for back cover) Color(CMYK), Tif or high quality jpeg image. 400dpi.

The detail will be announced at the end of August.
It will be collaboration of all members. Example from back numbers.

Last year, I made CoffeeParty book "In Search of Lost Coffee 4" for Kaigai Manga Festa 2015 with 6 members' help. 

They are Coffee Party Members in 2016.(Comment space)

Coffee Party new book.

Long time no see - no post on my blog for long time!

I was busy for preparation of Kaigai Manga Festa(Tokyo International Comic Festival)  and Coffee Party new book, In Search of Lost Coffee 4, which I sold at Kaigai Manga Festa.

It was 15th November - and after that, still I'd been busy for manga school and so on. But anyway, finally, I added In Search of Lost Coffee 4 to my Doshinshi-mail order list.

You can order from outside Japan, pay Paypal/credit card.

In Search of Lost Coffee vol.4  44p/300yen

Till vol.3, Saeko worked with me, but  she withdrew from this volume. Instead of that, I got some new 6 people from the world, it's a "International collaboration doujin book". 

It's written English with Japanese subtitle/Japanese with English subtitle. 

As usual, it's all about Croissant and Eclair, our French heroines, but in my part, you can see Wedding Peach family too, I featured them since this year 2015 is 20th anniversary of Anime onair! ;)

Kaigai Manga Festa

I'm leaving Japan tomorrow, and couldn't finish the editing work of Coffee Party Book, for Kaigai Manga Festa on 15 Nov. Still, I have about 1 week after my return, so I think I can do somehow - not easy, though. 

Maybe I can do some work during Banzaicon - if I have some extra energy. If I have...

I'm leaving Japan on 28th Wednesday to USA for Banzaicon. And I'm working on Coffee Party project book (editing and toning of my part) . With some document work from Manga School, my life has been confusing a bit now... No preparation for my trip yet. -.-

I hope I finish the editing work before my departure, but it seems difficult. Oh well, still I have some time after the convention... but I work harder, it would be safer. 

This book is for Kaigai Manga Festa 2015, on 15 November. 

If there is someone who is coming to Banzaicon, let's meet there!

When CoffeeParty book 3 was released, a couple of people asked me if I was planning any project like last 2 books. I answered I had no plan right now, but I would do something in future. Then almost a half year has past...and now, I have a new plan!

To join this project, you need to draw...

Black and white drawing for the body, one small character drawing in full color (for the cover) and a note for a comment space.

The subject  can be anything about Coffee Party characters. Croissant, Eclair, Dango, and Brioche.

You should take Croissant or Eclair at least. You can add your original character if you like - he or she should be named by a sweet, typical one in your country (Something nice with coffee). 

Anything is OK, illustration, a drawing with some words/dialogue, 4koma/8koma, or short manga(8 pages maximum).  Dialogue should be in English, then I'll add Japanese subtitle. 2-8 pages/person, I'm thinking right now.

Manga/Comic both stiles are acceptable. (left to right / right to left) 

On the first page, your name and title(if you have) are required.

You need to pay 700 yen/page+ 200 yen(for comment space).

Coffee Party Project (FB note)

Meet me at Kaigai Mang Festa

Although it's rather a short notice, I'm going to have a table at Artist Alley of Kaigai Manga Festa 2014 (23th). The space is Artist Alley C-05 "CoffeeParty"

I'll sell some Dojinshi and Books, In Search of Lost Coffee vol.3, for instance. I wanted to bring The Isolated Zone/Shinku Chitai, but it's too heavy and I gave up.

I don't take a panel in this time, but I'll bring a file (has some original drawings) for extra space of my table. (maybe I have...) Come to my table and see them! If you like manga, it would be interesting.

After then, I joined Special exhibition of Artist Alley at Ichigaya, from 24th to 28th.

I'll sell books there, same books which I sell at Kaigai Manga Festa. I have a pabel here, so I did some drawings for display. I'll sell them as well book.

It's held from Monday to Friday. I won't be there all the time, and have not decided when I go and don't. Ff you are planing to come, let me know!

Kaigai manga fest was over... the result? Not so good. ^^;  Now, you can mail order the book, and I hope we distribute many people via this mail order. A book needs a reader!

The last attempt was failed

Venezuela, Comic Zulia.

As I mentioned on this blog, there was a problem of my trip to Venezuela.They couldn't get my fright ticket!

I'm not going to Comic Zulia...?!

They didn't say they couldn't, they were trying. I had to wait for the result...and I waited for a while. 

A few days ago, I had an offer. It was during my trip (23th - 29th), but I had got no information yet. I asked to Comic Zulia, and got the answer "Tomorrow 10/09/2013 (date in Venezuela) we will talk with the agency last flights".

The I got the final answer - they couldn't make it, "the situation is out of our hand".

It's OK, there might be many difficulties to invite someone from overseas. But I wonder if they could see it in the early stage. It was a bit trouble because you have arranged your schedules around it.

Anyway, I'm sorry I couldn't go to Venezuela. They said they are thinking to do same next year.

It would be nice - I hope the ticket can be prepared in ahead of time, thought!

So I changed the title images from ComicZulia to International Manga Fest. This is positive, I'm going to be there. If you are in Tokyo on 20th Oct, come and have a chat with me! :)

Story Board of Coffee Party book

I'm working on CoffeeParty's second dojin book, In Search of Lost Coffee. We - Saeko Doyle and I are making the storyboard now, it's our collaboration.

We just decided basic ideas, characters, the start, so on - then draw the storyboard (2 open pages) one after the other. First 2 pages were done by Saeko, and I did the next 2 pages, then pass it back to Saeko.

You don't know how the next 2pages will go when you passed your part. And when you take the back, you make the sequel. You accept the story you get, no touch, no interfere each other, you enjoy the surprise and struggle with it to get the next 2pages.

This is one of the storyboard, I think I can show the manga-style storyboard (コマ割) with this. It can give you a glimpse of how manga stream is oriented 

The "wide gap" between panel 1 and 2 of 2nd page, it shows the place/time was different. It's supposed to work like a wipe in film. This is very common - classical technique of manga.

Kigai manga festa (International Comic Festical Tokyo) is coming (20th Oct.) and CoffeeParty will have a desk at the artist alley in this year too.

It means we need a new book, and I finally have started the project now.(Late, so late) 

What we will do? Croissant went to Moon and Blood's world the last time - where the next?

This is a doodle from Onsen Party (you remember if you read the book. Saeko Doyle's illustration) What about if Croissant turns up at 露天風呂(roten-buro/open air spa), and meets Eclair of this world?
